William Tappan Thompson papers, [ca. 1865-1882].

The collection consists of papers of William Tappan Thompson from ca. 1865-1882. The papers include a scrapbook containing mainly newspaper clippings regarding Thompson's career and death; a few pieces of correspondence; photographs; and a handwritten manuscript of "Major Jones' Courtship Or Adventures of a Christmas Eve, A Farce in Two Acts" by Thompson. The correspondence includes a letter from E.C. Wade on February 28, 1865 which discusses conditions in Union-occupied Savannah; a letter from W. Watkin Hicks, Florida State Superintendent of Public Instruction on April 22, 1875 in which Hicks objects to Thompson's editorial comments about him; and a letter of condolence from Georgia Governor Alfred H. Colquitt.
